Netanyahu Raises Alarm Over US-Iran Talks
Netanyahu further expressed apprehension about a possible connection between a truce in Lebanon and a potential accord between Washington and Tehran. An Israeli public broadcaster cited an informed Israeli source in reporting these concerns.
This development followed Trump’s statement on Saturday that an arrangement with Iran to end the conflict was "largely negotiated" and awaiting completion, after Pakistani army chief Asim Munir’s recent trip to Tehran—his second in a matter of weeks.
According to the source, Netanyahu and Israel’s security leadership believe that "the Iranians are stalling to buy time, and that Tehran will announce its unwillingness to make concession after 60 days."
In parallel, the Israeli Security Cabinet is scheduled to meet Sunday evening amid indications of progress in talks between Washington and Tehran, the broadcaster added.
Quoting a declaration from Netanyahu’s office, the broadcaster noted that Washington continues to keep Tel Aviv updated on the ongoing dialogue.
During his Saturday night exchange with Trump, Netanyahu reiterated that Israel "will maintain its freedom of action against threats on all fronts, including Lebanon," according to the statement.
